NT GOVERNMENT SMART ENERGY GRANT STARTS 2 JANUARY 2018

July 1, 2019
Are your power bills through the roof? Do you have an old air conditioning unit that is costing you more than it's worth? The NT Government have just announced a new $4 million scheme for Territory homeowners which will allow you to upgrade your old air conditioning unit with a new energy efficient inverter, all while the Government will foot half the bill up to $1000.

How it Works!

The Smart Energy Grant will be a voucher system with the NT Government paying 50% of the bill up to $1000. To be eligible to avail of this grant you must currently reside in the NT and own a residential or investment property. If you are a member of the NT pensioner and carer’s scheme you will only be asked to contribute 25%. This mean it has never been more affordable to undertake improvements to your home to be more energy efficient and reduce that power bill we all dread so much.

How do I know if I qualify for a New Air Conditioner?

To avail of a new energy efficient air conditioning unit your existing system must be at least 6 years old and the new air conditioning system must meet the minimum energy efficiency star ratings:
Cooling Output Energy Efficiency Star Rating

Up to 3kW

At least 5 stars

3.1kW to 5kW

At least 3.5 stars

5.1kW to 7kW

At least 3 stars

7.1kW to 8kW

At least 2.5 stars

Above 8kW

At least 2 stars

This might sound like a lot to consider. However, when you choose Advanced Air we guarantee that we will make sure that all of these conditions are met, and you can have a stress free installation of a brand new energy efficient inverter air conditioning unit.

How do I Apply?

Applications open on the 2nd of January 2018. Applications can be made online soon or by completing a hard copy form which will be available from a Territory Business Centre or by calling 1800 193 111. Once your application has been approved you will be issued with a voucher which will be used as partial payment once the job is complete.

So, what are you waiting for, get in now to avoid disappointment. Organise a Free quote today ready for submission on the 2nd of January and don’t miss out on this opportunity to upgrade your home air conditioning. You can read more about this scheme from the smart energy grant page.

Mouldy Air Conditioning Vent in Darwin
By Jason Gebert April 15, 2020
The first sign many people notice is a musty, mouldy odour. If you do a thorough clean of your office or commercial space and the smell is still there, it’s time to check your vents. Getting your Air Conditioning Contractor to remove the covers and take a quick look inside may confirm the issue, especially if you see mould or notice a stronger smell in that area. If the scent is stronger, but you can’t see the mould, then the growth is possibly further in the ducts. Another sign of a mould issue is the sudden onset of allergy symptoms. If you or a co-worker notices burning eyes, scratchy throat, or a runny nose that gets better when you leave the office, there could be an issue. Arranging for your HVAC technician to check your filters should be the first step. If it needs to be changed they can install a new one. If the symptoms continue they can do a quick check of your vents and a visual check of your ducts. Inspecting your duct work can also provide clues to a possible mould problem. An Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) can check for signs of moisture build-up, such as condensation, dark spots, or actual leaks. Mould needs water to grow, so any signs of condensation or leaking could indicate a growth hot spot. Duct cleaning and coating is a specialised job and as such the majority of HVAC companies sub-contract duct cleaning and coating out to companies like ours. At Advanced Air we have our Air Systems Cleaning Specialist on staff ready to undertake any duct inspection, cleaning or coating project you may have.
