What is the 2020 NT Home Improvement Scheme

Under the scheme, owners of residential and investment properties will receive a $6,000 grant for renovations if they contribute $2,000 of their own money.

How to register for the 2020 Home Improvement Scheme.

Registering is easy, but you'll have to have some information on hand ready to go such as a utility bill and drivers license.

Once you have selected your preferred quote, apply online to receive a unique voucher.

Once the work is done, you pay the trades-person using the voucher as part payment. You must give your voucher to the trades-person so that they can be paid by the Department of Trade.

What is the Home Improvement Scheme

The Northern Territory Government is investing $30 million in the new 2020 Home Improvement Scheme as part of the coronavirus stimulus package. It will boost small businesses involved in home improvement, repairs and maintenance to keep work flowing in the Territory.

Territory homeowners can apply to receive a voucher worth up to $6,000 towards minor improvements when they contribute $2,000 for repairs and upgrades to their homes.

Homeowners can put the voucher towards works of up to $8000 carried out by a Territory small business that is registered to participate.

The Home Improvement Scheme is a simple way to make a big difference for small businesses and tradies and is only available to Territory homeowners.

The scheme will be open to homeowners from TBA.

Am I Eligible for the Scheme?

If you’re a Territory homeowner you can apply to receive a voucher of up to $6,000 towards minor improvements, repairs and upgrades to your home when you contribute $2,000.

They have also announced that you can be eligible for up to $4,000 when you contribute $1,000.

Examples of eligible small jobs might include air conditioning work, electrical work etc.

Each voucher is valid for a period of three months and can be used to complete one or two jobs.
